Family & Community Counselling Diploma
Credential: Diploma Ι Credits: 36.0 Ι Offered: September to July
Program Description
After completing the Family & Counselling Certificate program, learners can apply to the Diploma program. The program is 11 months, which includes a 200 hour practicum placement in the Social Services field. Students continue to learn from an Indigenous worldview and develop advanced critical thinking in social welfare and counselling skills. Students are strongly encouraged to continue practicing self-care and become more self-aware as a helper or an ally to Indigenous, Metis, or Inuit Peoples.
Career Path
Our graduates find jobs with different employers including Children & Family Service agencies, Community Health Agencies, First Nation communities, or provincial agencies. Various positions may include:
- Case Manager
- Mental Health and Addictions Worker
- Crisis Support Counsellor
- Family Violence Support Worker
University Transfer
The Family and Community Counselling Diploma can transfer to the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology's Bachelor of Social Work program.
