Program Description

The Family & Community Counselling Certificate (FCCC) Program is 11 months of study or a total of 39 credits, which includes a 200 hour practicum placement in the Social Services field.

Students are introduced to general theory and basic counselling skills with an Indigenous worldview, to support their learning journey in becoming a counsellor. Students are strongly encouraged to practice self-care and to better understand how they self-identify, their cultural background, and history to create a balanced sense of well-being.

This certificate can be applied towards the Family & Community Counselling Diploma Program at NEC.

Career Path

FCCC graduates find employment in the Social Services field. Various positions may include:

  • Outreach worker
  • Shelter/safehouse/residential worker
  • Community support worker
