Family & Community Counselling Diploma

Program Description
In this diploma program, learners prepare to either advocate or deliver social service programs that help Indigenous people navigate through the social welfare or legal systems. From an Indigenous perspective, learners apply their critical thinking and self-awareness skills to understand how to best support families with overcoming barriers in child welfare, substance abuse, or other traumatic situations.
Career Path
Our graduates find jobs with different employers including Children & Family Service agencies, Community Health Agencies, First Nation communities, or provincial agencies. Various positions may include:
- Case Manager
- Mental Health and Addictions Worker
- Crisis Support Counsellor
- Family Violence Support Worker
University Transfer
The Family and Community Counselling Diploma can transfer to the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology in the Bachelor of Social Work program.
