Program Description
In this 11-month Certificate program, learners are introduced to the general theory and develop their foundational skills in psychology and trauma counselling. Most importantly, learners are encouraged to understand their self-identity, culture, and history – essentially creating a strong sense of well-being in order to communicate and help other Indigenous people with overcoming personal barriers.
This certificate program can be applied towards the Family and Community Counselling Diploma program at NEC.
Career Path
Our graduates find jobs with different employers including Children & Family Service agencies, Community Health Agencies, First Nation communities, or provincial agencies. Various positions may include:
- Shelter/safehouse / residential worker
- Community support worker
- Outreach Youth Worker
