Program Description

Building on the foundational skills and knowledge gained from completing a Health Care Assistant Program, students can take this advanced training in Palliative Health Care to provide hospice care for clients with serious illnesses. This training includes a cultural component by using medicine wheel teachings covering the four areas of the physical, emotional, spiritual and mental well-being of a person.

This program also identifies and examines traditional and non-traditional approaches to providing care for palliative care clients in rural and urban communities.

Career Path

Health Care Assistants who complete the advanced training in Palliative Care increase their ability to work in various settings including:

  • Palliative Care units
  • Hospice Care
