NEC President

As the newly appointed President of the Native Education College I cordially invite prospective students and their families to our wonderful Long House facilities in the heart of Vancouver. The Native Education College (NEC) is British Columbia’s largest private Aboriginal College. We are governed by a Board collectively known as the NEC Native Education College, composed of directors from First Nations Bands and Organizations located throughout the province.

NEC Native Education College’s mandate is to address the needs of Aboriginal adult learners through the provision of developmental, vocational, and applied academic programs that lead directly to employment, or further post secondary opportunities. Because of credentialing difficulties prospective students are advised that NEC cannot offer full transfer credits into academic programs. Our experienced academic advising staff are available to assist students with any enquiries regarding programs and course credit transferability.

NEC programming is culturally relevant and innovative, with support services that are sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal learners. Current programming includes courses in Aboriginal Adult Basic Education (AABE), Technology, Social and Economic Development, and Educational Outreach. Program outlines are provided in the 06/07 Program Calendar.

The NEC Longhouse was the first to be constructed in BC for educational purposes and it truly represents a house of learning. It offers a friendly atmosphere and a culturally sensitive learning environment as we prepare learners for meaningful roles in their respective communities.

Thank you for choosing NEC as you continue your quest for knowledge.
Kia ora tatou.
