Family Violence Resource Centre

The mandate of the FVRC is to provide First Nations Family Violence related information and services to funded Sexual Abuse Intervention Programs (SAIP) contractors, FVRC members and people across the province.

The Family Violence Resource Centre (FVRC) book and video collections are housed in the Library. Although the collection is housed in the library it is not under the same borrowing rules as the NEC collection. Both students and staff must become members of the FVRC in order to have borrowing privileges. They must fill out a registration form and sign an agreement of responsibility. This form will be turned in to the Library Assistant and a membership card will be given.

The FVRC Member must show their membership card in order to sign out FVRC material and fill in the appropriate form (form to Follow) to take out videos.

Family Violence and Sexual Abuse Counselling

The FVRC provides culturally appropriate counselling for survivors of sexual abuse and other forms of family violence. This is open to NEC students, their families and all community members.

Community Workshops

Support groups sessions and educational workshops are available to community groups interested in learning more about family violence. Networking and community development activities and advocacy services are also available.

Resource Materials

The FVRC provides First Nation family violence related information books, journals, and DVDs to students and the public across BC. The collection is housed in the NEC library and NEC students and staff must become members of the FVRC in order to have borrowing privileges.
